帝國榮光頌作為帝國的國歌，是於景祥政變發生後由國民大會的決定。當時因此前的國歌《御皇頌》有着過於厚重的專制色彩，加上早已不合時宜，而被新任帝國皇帝[[施德賢]]陛下廢除其國歌地位，並宣佈將重新委託帝國的音樂家和填詞家進行作曲及作詞。而在尚未有結果前，其官方國歌地位便由綠袖子所短暫取代。
